Inspiration...and a bit more!

Well today's quilt inspiration comes from Wightwick Manor and the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. I did do a few quick sketches inside Wightwick as no photos are allowed, but for now here are some photographic ideas.....
We just need to revisit that exquisite exterior once again above and then the close-ups surrounding the windows (below). I think these would make great quilt borders.......

And from Birmingham Art Gallery we have some appliqué designs from their entry floors.......

It is always so lovely to have Jane Burden greet us once again.....
Of course one of the highlights at the gallery is the William De Morgan tiles. Another quick visit and you can see these two tiles were used in my William De Morgan quilt some time ago......check the four corners of my quilt for the first tile and see if you can find a couple of the other tiles. No time to photograph the other tiles - sorry!

(Sorry the quilt photo is of an unfinished quilt...it is complete but no evidence of that on my laptop!)
This evening we had a wonderful evensong in Birmingham Cathedral and as a special treat we met Helen's wonderful parents. And for an even extra special treat Helen's delightful Mum brought her amazing embroidery for us to drool over! Just check out her embroidered 3D garden!....
It starts as a book which you open to reveal a magical place....just exquisite.....

And below is the gracious and gorgeous Phyllis with her beautiful Jane Nicholas stump work embroidery - and Phyllis tells us she is self taught all from Jane's books! Thankyou Phyllis (and also Frank for looking after Larry...and you too Helen X)
More surprises to share tomorrow...nite, nite from my part of the world!
